About Rollclip
Social for your people.
Rollclip is a different kind of social platform.
We built it because social media had drifted away from something simple: sharing what’s happening in your life with people you actually care about.
Somewhere along the way, sharing became performing. Friends became followers. Timelines became recommendation engines. And opening an app became less about seeing what your people were doing and more about seeing whatever an algorithm decided could hold your attention.
Rollclip is our attempt to build in a different direction.
There is no traditional endless feed. Instead, Rollclip is built around Clips, Circles and the people and communities you choose to be part of.
You decide where you share. You decide who you share with. And you decide what deserves your attention.
Our story
Rollclip started with something pretty personal.
I wanted a simple way to share what was going on in my life with my friend group, T U … You KNOOOOW… Not with an audience. Not with followers. Just my friends. The people I actually wanted to keep up with and who wanted to keep up with me.
The more I thought about it, the more I realized that the social apps I was using weren’t really built around that anymore.
That led to a simple question:
What would a social app look like if we stopped designing everything around the feed?
That question led to an entirely different way of thinking about social media.
Instead of building another place to accumulate followers and compete for reach, we started building around smaller groups, moments and intentional discovery.
Circles give people places to gather around friends, interests, communities and organizations. Clips make sharing lightweight. And discovery is there when you want to venture beyond the people and places you already know.
Rollclip is still young. We don’t pretend to have social media figured out.
We’re building, learning and evolving as real people use it.
Social without the performance
Most social platforms encourage you to build an audience.
Rollclip is designed to help you build connections.
That difference influences a lot of small decisions.
We don’t think every post needs to become permanent content. We don’t think every person needs to become a creator. We don’t think popularity should determine whether something is worth seeing.
Sometimes you just want to share something funny with five people.
Sometimes you want to show your community what happened today.
Sometimes you want to discover something completely new.
Those things shouldn’t require building a personal brand.
Circles, not audiences
Circles are at the center of Rollclip.
A Circle can be a group of friends, a community, an interest, an organization, a business or simply a place where people gather around something they care about.
They’re designed to give content context.
Instead of broadcasting everything to one giant audience, you can share something where it actually belongs.
We think the future of social can feel a little smaller, a little more intentional and a lot more human.
A business model that serves the product
We want Rollclip’s business model to support the experience rather than slowly undermine it.
That means being thoughtful about how Rollclip makes money and what incentives those choices create.
We’re exploring paid tools and services for businesses, organizations and people who want more from their Circles, while keeping the core social experience accessible.
We don’t believe making an app sustainable requires turning every available surface into an advertisement.
If we can build a healthy business by making useful things people willingly pay for, we’d rather do that.
Privacy should be understandable
Privacy shouldn’t require reading twenty pages of legal language to understand how an app handles your information.
We want to collect the information needed to operate Rollclip, protect the community and improve the product. We don’t want to collect information simply because it might become valuable someday.
As Rollclip grows, we’ll continue to be clear about how information is collected, used and protected.
Trust is easier to lose than it is to earn.
We intend to build accordingly.
Building in public
Rollclip is still evolving.
That’s intentional.
Some of the most important decisions about the platform will come from watching how people actually use it rather than assuming we already know all the answers.
We’ll experiment. Some ideas will work. Some won’t. When something doesn’t work, we’ll change it.
The goal isn’t to build the biggest social network possible.
It’s to build one people are glad exists.
What we believe
- Social media can still be fun.
- Sharing doesn’t need to be a performance.
- Not everything needs to last forever.
- Your friends are more important than an engagement algorithm.
- Communities don’t need millions of people to matter.
- Businesses shouldn’t have to turn themselves into content machines just to reach the people who care about them.
- And software can be successful without consuming every possible minute of someone’s attention.
Those ideas are what we’re building Rollclip around.
We’re just getting started
Rollclip is being built for people who still like the idea of social media but wish it felt a little more social.
A place for your people, your Circles and the things happening right now.
Not another feed to keep up with.
Just something worth opening.
